Kath began volunteering with the Point Cabrillo Light Station in May, 2005, a few days after she arrived as a permanent resident to Mendocino. She first served as a volunteer interpretive docent in the First Assistant Lightkeeper’s House and then as part of the retail gift shop interpretive staff. Since 2009, she continued to volunteer as the Retail Gift Shop manager and is currently in the process of assisting in the transition to new management.
Kath graduated cum laude with a BS in Human Services, concentration in management from the University of Southern New Hampshire in 1987. She volunteers with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, as part of the support to the Light Station. Additionally she volunteers helping rescue injured or ill marine animals with the Fort Bragg Operations group of The Marine Mammal Center.
