The staff and volunteers of the PCLK send their condolences to the friends and family of Jane Hartesveldt, who passed away August 14, 2014, at the age of 90. We are honored and grateful she mentioned Point Cabrillo Light Station as a possible recipient of memorial gifts in her memory.

Excerpts from "Paint Them Red,"
the prose poem by Steve Nilson,
Site Manager and PCLK board member:
"88 bundles of shingles to paint
88 bundles to move,
Heavy and wet,
You shifted them all,
To air, to dry, to paint.
...
Seven feet of shingles, hot melt glued,
Both sides of a stick used,
Fast to pick up, faster to spray,
Fast to hang drying,
Now we were cooking!
...
Your efforts were great,
Your efforts were effective,
No visitors or their cars were sprayed,
The new fence is still white,
Pretty much worth while, don't you think?
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You"

Traditional songs in English and French: tragically beautiful, and humorous, engaging glimpses of history with others offering the audience choruses to join in. These mementos were given at the Volunteer Party on Sunday, September 15th as a thank you for helping paint two and a half pallets of shake shingles for the West House.
