Pam Huntley Director of Education

Since 2001, Pam Huntley has been our Director of Education. Pam studied Biology and Environmental studies at U.C. Santa Cruz. She has lived on the coast since 1984. That year she became, and continues to be, the volunteer caretaker for the Nature Conservancy’s Pygmy Forest Preserve. She has worked in our local school for 30+ years, providing environmental education programs. Each year she teaches about birds to all 2nd grade classes from Point Arena to Branscomb sponsored by the Mendocino Coast Audubon Society. Local PTA groups sponsors ecosystems studies for 3rd graders and a 5 week program on water and water conservation to 4th grade classes.

In 2001 she became an education instructor at Point Cabrillo and became the Director of Education in 2005. She leads tours regularly for Road Scholar/ Elderhostel groups on Native American lectures and tours to MacKerricher State Pars and the Pygmy forests.

In the summer she has worked at Nature Day Camp at Jughandle Farm and Nature Center since 1985 and has run it as her own business since 2008.
