Accessibility at Point Cabrillo Light Station

While the walk down to the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse is an enjoyable 1/2 mile on a paved lane, we have options for folks who should not be walking that long of a distance! The accessible parking area at the light station has eleven parking spots in total, 2 that are designated ADA parking spots, and nine that are reserved for folks who do not have the ADA placards, but should not or cannot walk the full half mile.

To access these spots, head to the south end of the main parking lot on Point Cabrillo Drive, and turn right down Lighthouse Road. Stay under 15mph and pull off the road into the grass to make room for pedestrians, as they have the right of way on this one lane road. Please be aware of rabbits, squirrels, birds, coyotes and deer, who use that road as well!

If you have people in your party who cannot make the walk from the ADA parking spots to the lighthouse (approximately 700 feet), you are welcome to drive down the gravel path to the lighthouse under 5mph, and drop them off in front of the historic building. There is NO PARKING allowed around the lighthouse, so one of the party will need to drive the car back up to the Accessible Parking Area.
