Education Raffle

boymollusksDear Friend of Point Cabrillo Light Station:

Point Cabrillo Light Station State Historic Park offers much more than a beautifully restored lighthouse in a dramatic setting. It is also where one of the best outdoor education programs on the North Coast takes place. Last year, more than 1400 students and their teachers participated in classes offered by the Point Cabrillo Lightkeepers Association.

Thanks to your contributions, we were able to share the natural and cultural history of Point Cabrillo with schools throughout Mendocino County and beyond. With your continued support, we can reach even more students in 2014.

Students on field trips to Point Cabrillo learn history, map tide pools, watch whales, find birds, restore habitats, explore how the Pomo people lived, and develop an understanding of the need to protect valuable resources. They do all this while having fun out of doors.

This program is provided free to schools. The PCLK provides this program at no cost to every school and class that wants to visit. With your help, we support the instructors who lead the field trips and hands-on activities. Last year, they put in 188 hours.

Every dollar goes directly to the Education Program. When you buy an Education Raffle ticket, students and teachers get a field trip and YOU might just win five nights in the Head Light Keeper’s House, or one of the other irresistible prizes.

Purchasing one $10 ticket allows the PCLK to host one student for one day at Point Cabrillo (and gives you one chance to win). A contribution of $50 gives you ten chances and sends five students on this learning adventure. Half a class is supported by $100 and you receive 25 tickets to win; an entire class visits for $200 and gives you 50 chances to win a prize.

Buy a ticket, teach a child, and perhaps win a prize. Such a deal!

On behalf of the teachers and students who love learning at Point Cabrillo Light Station,

We thank you.
